Goals and objectives

In this course you will learn what enterprise ontology is according to DEMO (Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations) and how to apply it in practice. You will learn about the modeling technique, its underlying theories, and typical applications and advantages. In the essentials course we will cover:

  •  Theory:
    • Function versus construction: what’s in it for me versus how does it work?
    • Organizational layering: discerning types of production and their dependencies
    • Generic transaction pattern: systematically designing complete collaboration
  • Modeling:
    • An overview of the DEMO reference models to kickstart your modeling efforts
    • An overview of all DEMO model aspects: connecting products, responsibilities, processes, information and business rules (Way of Modeling)
    • Tips and tricks to create a complete and consistent DEMO model (Way of Working)

At the end of this training you will be able to:

  • Formulate products and transactions according to DEMO
  • Make a DEMO Cooperation Model (CSD+TPT)
  • Make a DEMO FM (OFD+DFS)

The modeling exercises can be carried out with your own case, so that you take home valuable insights of applying DEMO. The course includes many practical examples in applying DEMO, such as the assignment of actor roles to organizational units and people and the creation of a blueprint for your ICT.
